About Me

Hello, my name is Carlos Barros. I am Portuguese and as you see this blog is recent and has a propose. The propose is to expose a bit about my manifesto. It is somewhat written already, so I guess I could explain a bit about it here.
So about this blog. It started in August of 2012, at first it was somewhat of an impulsive thing. I did this because I'm running a manifesto to the site changethis.
With the time I decided to do articles, speak about my life. Things a normal blog would have. Except this is no normal blog because I am not a normal person. And I'm not normal because it seems that nothing of normal happens in my life,
A bit about me. My full name is Carlos Manuel Costa Barros, I am Portuguese, from a little city called Fafe on what many people call Minho, I study Acessory and Translation at ISCAP at the beautiful city of Oporto (I study English, French and German). I speak English with some fluency because I've been studying it since I was ten and got interested into the language by the age of 14, so I have 12 years of experience (which makes 22 years old), and so I am somewhat proficient in English. In my free time I like to talk walks, and be with my friends (like any 22 years old), but also I am hard-ass nerd and otaku (means that I am into Japanese culture). Some people consider me pretty smart for my age, and I am lot into study different subjects. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Schizoid Personality Disorder and I am also said to be very obsessive. I am an odd guy with some personality defects (but who isn't). Also on my free time I am into online penpalling (making friends online) currently my only public profile that I am willing to give is my one on interpals check it out! I also have msn, skype, yahoo, facebook, twitter and tumblr (the last two I don't use often). If you're feeling like contacting just ask me about it and I may give it to you!
One more thing yes I notice I use complicated words and elaborated speech it is called grammar. Want something simple? Go watch a Far East Movement videoclip.

Ok I think that is all enjoy the rest the blog! ;)

Ps: If you want to send me a message or send questions to my Questionarium section. (Yeah I suck into giving names, but is my way to say ask me anything and I may give you an answer here on the blog) Use silveringking@hotmail.com .
I you can also hire me to translate something to you. For now all I can do is English-Portuguese or Portuguese-English translations. I'm also into guest blogging, I will write some words in your blog for free if you let me advertise my own blog. Any of these things and more you can send to the mail above. I swear to God I will try to answer you as soon as possible.

  1. Glad to see your openness on this blog. SPD is one of many *disorders* that many people suffer from, but whatever the disorder, no one is defined by it. So, I'm very glad you're bigger than that.

  2. Thank you for your e-mail. I'm sorry if I am speaking English, but my sponsors who are evaluating me insist that only help English speaking blogs. By change, can you tell me how did you find this blog? And did you like it. If you have any question you can also write to the "Questionarium". I do one every weekend http://mynameisnotcarlos.blogspot.pt/2012/08/questionarium-what-can-be-made-higher.html ask me anything. I hope you like the blog and the articles.

  3. Thanks, Carlos. Your blog is very fresh, so I'm still trying to figure out what direction you're going to take with it, but it looks inviting. I also like authenticity, and you most certainly appear to be a very honest, genuine person.

I've read about your post on the linguistic site and your email address on this one.

It's totally fine with me if you decide to respond in English. I'm a linguist myself, so I understand the significance of practicing. Translation is quite a challenging area because we translate not only languages but also cultures. That's why I suggest that you study as much about the British, American, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand cultures in order to be able to respond to their cultural references. The classic example with Portuguese would be the word *saudade*, but there are many more and complicated issues out there, so good luck with them :)

I will take a look at the Questionarium area, too. I don't have a blog myself, but you already have my email, so feel free to contact me whichever way you prefer. Thank you :)

  5. Yes, to me that is a linguistic site because people usually exchange their knowledge of languages.
